Russell Bittmann. The Determinants of School Market Structure
My paper studies the determinants of charter school location and the effects of charter school location on private and public school choices. I combine previously unstudied data to create a twenty year panel that contains all private, public, and charter schools in Chicago. With these data, I am able to measure effects of entry and competition on enrollment across schooling sectors.
