About our research
Mechanisms of Prediabetic States in Sleep Apnea
The purpose of this study is to better understand how sleep apnea contributes to the development of diabetes. This 3-month study is recruiting overweight adults who are between the ages of 20-65. We are looking for participants with both prediabetes and sleep apnea. This study includes screening for each of these diseases through a 2 hour blood test and a home sleep study. If you qualify, there are three study conditions. You will complete all three study conditions in a random order. Study visits include in-lab overnight sleep studies, CPAP treatment, IV insertions with blood testing, and optional muscle biopsies. You will earn up to $2550 for completion of all study visits.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Overweight or obese
- Prediabetic
- Moderate or severe sleep apnea
Exclusion Criteria:
