TODAY at TAMEW: Abigail Bratcher & Julia Mead “Early Student Roundtable” 4-5:30 PM

Please join the Transnational Approaches to Modern Europe today Wednesday, May 20 from 4:00-5:30 pm for our first ever “Early Student Roundtable.” We are lucky have two early PhD Students in the History Department who will provide brief presentations on their work followed by an open discussion among workshop participants.

Julia Mead, PhD Student, Department of History, will present her work, “Fossil Socialism: Thoughts on masculine miners, coal-powered consumerism, and the mineral basis of Czechoslovak state socialism” and Abigail Bratcher, PhD Student, Department of History will present her work, Knowing the Kazakh Steppe: How Soil Scientists and Peasants Created Knowledge of the Steppe Biosphere during the Cold War.”

The presentations will be held during the meeting and there is no pre-circulated paper.
