About
The SHPE Chicagoland Día de Ciencias is an annual STEM outreach event hosted by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) University of Chicago Chapter. This event is designed to inspire Hispanic students and their families to explore the possibilities of STEM education and careers, while fostering a sense of community and celebrating cultural heritage.

Student Sessions

Students engage in fun STEM hands-on activities designed to introduce foundational STEM concepts and engineering design while practicing critical thinking and teamwork.

The parents program includes workshops on college readiness and STEM pathways, scholarships and financial aid, and a STEM Professionals Panel.

UChicago Demos

All attendees are invited to explore bilingual STEM demonstrations hosted by experts from the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (PME) and Physical Sciences Division (PSD).

A STEM Family Event for the Chicagoland Hispanic Community

Día de Ciencias is more than just a STEM event—it’s a celebration of family, community, and the power of education. Designed to inspire and empower Hispanic students and their families, the event provides opportunities for hands-on learning, access to educational resources, and meaningful connections with STEM professionals and mentors.

This event is a collaborative effort among SHPE chapters in the Chicagoland area, corporate partners, and University of Chicago researchers and volunteers, all united by a shared commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM.
