Today, we’re highlighting a winning submission from the 2019 AEPP Finding Chicago: Global Perspectives project. The AEPP-Speaking students recorded podcasts on an issue in North American or Chicago culture that captured their attention. Today’s featured podcast is from Jingyi T., Harris School of Public Policy Masters of Public Policy student. Congratulations, Jingyi!
In this podcast, Jingyi discusses the benefits of Chicago adding green space to the roofs of existing buildings: “[It] functions like an insulator, which decreases the flow of heat through the roof. Likewise, it functions in winter because it helps to trap the heat inside. Besides, since there are more plants in the city, it helps to reduce air pollution, to reduce the noise, and also the effect of greenhouse gas emissions.”
