Virtual Chicago Spotlight: 4th of July

We know that many of our incoming and current @uchicago students and affiliates are unable to explore Chicago at the moment. That’s why every Friday this summer, we will showcase a Chicago cultural icon.
Tomorrow, July 4, is the U.S. holiday of Independence Day.

Normally, there is a concert in Grant Park in downtown Chicago to mark the event. This year, the Grant Park Music Festival concert is virtual:
➡️ Saturday, July 4, 6:30-7:30pm (Chicago time)

“An evening of patriotic favorites featuring the Grant Park Orchestra and conductor Christopher Bell, with flutist Mary Stolper playing the ‘American Flute Salute’, baritone John Orduña performing ‘God Bless America’, along with [songs] ‘Fanfare for the Common Man’, ‘Armed Forces Salute’, ‘America the Beautiful’, ‘1812 Overture,’ and ‘Stars and Stripes Forever’ and more.”
