“Since it’s Halloween next week, I’m recommending ‘Candyman’ (1992), a Chicago-related horror film.
“Candyman is set in the near north side of Chicago. It tells the story of an anthropologist researching an urban legend of the victim of a hate crime whose spirit continues to kill for revenge in the present day. Candyman intertwines themes of racial divides and the subjectivity of reality.
“If you are looking for a scary movie to watch this Halloween, I recommend Candyman—almost 30 years after the first time I saw it, I still can’t look into a mirror in a dark room without shivering…”
