AEPP Student Spotlight: Ruihan H

Today, we’re highlighting a winning submission from the 2019 AEPP Finding Chicago: Global Perspectives project. The AEPP-Speaking students recorded podcasts on an issue in North American or Chicago culture that captured their attention. Today’s featured podcast is from Ruihan H, a Harris MPP Masters student. Congratulations, Ruihan!

In this podcast, Ruihan discusses the 2019 election of Lori Lightfoot, Chicago’s first gay, black, lesbian Mayor, and Chicagoans’ perceptions of what she hopes to accomplish during her term: “Most Chicago people, whether they are black or white, agree with the statement that it is time to alleviate the problem of segregation in Chicago and boost the economy in the west and south parts. However, as [my interviewees] pointed out, there are so many obstacles for Mayor Lori Lightfoot to overcome.”
