Year of Games

Let’s Work Together

Today, gaming is a dominant form of play in contemporary life and surpasses the film industry in terms of engagement, revenue, and, potentially, cultural impact. Leading the pack, University of Chicago faculty and students routinely push boundaries in the fields of gaming and are pioneers defining game design theory, leaders in the critical study of gaming on culture, and UChicago alumni have created wildly successful games such as Cards Against Humanity and Halo.

If you’re planning a gaming- or play-related event and would like it included in the Year of Games calendar, we’d love to hear from you. Year of Games programming can take many forms including standalone lectures, workshops, or discussions; symposia or conferences; RSO-sponsored gatherings; exhibits and curated displays; arts, media, and performance series; game nights, tournaments, or study breaks; and even reading groups or book clubs. However you interpret games and play, we encourage you to propose something that reflects your interests and community.

Use the form below to share your idea with us, and a member of the Year of Games Steering Committee will follow up with next steps.
