The English Department Workshop Fund’s 20th & 21st Century Cultures Series aims to foster historically, theoretically, and disciplinarily rich conversations about cultural developments in the last century-plus. We welcome graduate students and faculty in and beyond the University of Chicago to discuss works-in-progress—such as dissertation chapters and proposals, conference presentations, first publications, articles, and book chapters—that have a stake in the interpretation and contextualization of cultural production in the 20th and 21st centuries. We encourage submissions from and discussion among scholars in any field, including (but in no way limited to) literary studies, cinema and media studies, art history, and cultural history.
