Have thoughts about mental health at UChicago?

Active Minds is compiling perspectives from the student body to present to Student Wellness and the administration and inform our work as an RSO. If you have any thoughts, opinions, or experiences about mental health at UChicago, write to us!

Active Minds Purpose

The national purpose of Active Minds is to empower university students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help-seeking behavior. The purpose of Active Minds on the University of Chicago campus is to connect students with the appropriate resources to better manage the rigors of the University, create a safe and welcoming space on campus to discuss mental health, inform students of the prevalence of mental health issues nationally, and provide a forum for those passionate about these issues to make a commmunity impact.

For 19+ years, Active Minds as a whole has spread awareness and emphasized education about mental health impacting young adults. Active Minds is on more than 600 U.S. campuses and is a growing movement. For more information about the organization as a whole, please visit the national website.

Our Mission

We’re dedicated to changing the climate and conversation around mental health here at UChicago (regrettably known as the place “where fun goes to die”) and connecting students to the resources and support they need for their mental health.
