There are a few notes below with details that will help presenters plan day-of travel, parking needs, and presentations. Please note that all travel should be booked and processed via the Workshop coordinators.
- Travel
- There are two local airports with routes the University of Chicago’s campus: O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. Midway is a more conveniently located travel point for arriving at the University.
- Hotel Arrangements
- The Workshop relies on two local hotels to accomodate speakers:
- Hyatt Place/University of Chicago Medical Center – 5225 S. Harper Avenue. Chicago, Illinois, USA, 60615. Tel: 773.752.5300
- Quadrangle Club – 1155 EAST 57TH STREET, CHICAGO, IL 60637, Tel: 773.702.7221
- The Hyatt has a shuttle that will take guests within short distances from the hotel/campus. The Quad Club is walking distance from most buildings on campus.
- The Workshop relies on two local hotels to accomodate speakers:
- Arrival
- Parking is available at the parking garage (paid parking) on Ellis and 55th.
- Free street parking is available on University between 55th and 58th.
- Paid street parking is available on Ellis however it fills up rather quickly) here is a guide on visitor parking at UofC. Please call or text Meg and I once you have found your parking spot. We will be at Pick Hall and can meet you when you’re ready.
- Presentations
- The Workshop typically lasts about one and a half hours. Presenters are expected to circulate papers via the Workshop coordinators one week prior to the presentation.
- Speakers should bring their own laptop or a USB drive with the presentation loaded for the Workshop. Other arrangements may be made with the Workshop coordinators if needed.
- Presentations last approximately 45 minutes to an hour with time left for questions.
