About

Hi there! I am a fourth-year PhD student in the Econometrics and Statistics dissertation area at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, kindly advised by Professor Mladen Kolar. I am broadly interested in the intersection between mechanism design and learning, specifically reinforcement learning. I am currently a quantitative research intern at Point72 applied ML team and previously I was a PhD student researcher at Google Brain. Prior to coming to Booth, I obtained a Master of Science in Machine Learning (2019) and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Machine Learning (2018) from Carnegie Mellon University.

I sometimes go by Shawn: it is exactly how you would pronounce the third Chinese character in my name, Xiang .
