Executive Chef Matthew Cappellini from Mesler Kitchen | Bar | Lounge, located in the Sophy Hotel at 1411 E. 53rd Street, has planned a special a la carte three-course menu with an appetizer of citron vodka smoked salmon with dill creme fraiche, bagel chips, blood orange, cucumber, egg yolk, and arugula for $13; Beef Wellington and lobster tail for two with a 14-ounce beef filet in puff pastry with mushroom duxelles and Dijon paired with a split 10-ounce lobster tail entree served with citrus butter for $120; and dessert with a molten lava cake with raspberry puree and vanilla bourbon gelato for $12. The Harper Theater at 5238 S. Harper Avenue is hosting The Hot Seat Discussion, presenting “For the Love of Comedy #2,” a stand-up comedy show featuring comedians Blair Christian, Em Brown, Mo Good, and Lyssa Laird. The pre-show features host Koolaa Shakur, poet Mellow J, Shakes the Comedian, and Necey from Soul 106.3. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show is from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $30/person, including one beverage of your choice and one popcorn.
la petite folie, located in the Courtyard of the Hyde Park Shopping Center at 1504 E. 55th Street, is offering an expanded $38/person 3-course prix fixe menu with choices in all courses and a special dessert menu. The Revival, located at 1160 E. 55th Street, presents State of Unfairs, a hilarious sketch comedy show that satirizes, lampoons and ultimately humanizes the conditions in “The Prairie State.” Featuring a fast-paced montage of scenes, songs, and improvisations, State of Unfairs was written by Allison Reese and is performed by the city’s best comedic actors including Tyler DeLoatch, Lily Ebbott-Burg, Olivia Jackson, Edgar Nevarez, Allison Reese, Catharine Savage, and KJ Snyder. Directed by Ali Barthwell. The show is on Saturday nights through March 7 and starts at 8 p.m. The Saturday, February 15 show would be a fun date idea for Valentine’s Day weekend.
