Lululemon to Open Hyde Park Location on Friday, November 12

Lululemon, known for its yoga-inspired, technical athletic apparel for women and men, is opening its first store on Chicago’s South Side at 1451 E. 53rd Street in Hyde Park on Friday, November 12.

Founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1998, Lululemon was envisioned as “… more than a place where people could get gear to sweat in,” but as a “…community hub where people could learn and discuss the physical aspects of healthy living, mindfulness, and living a life of possibility.”

The Hyde Park location is a new concept for the company, combining both women’s and men’s fitness clothing together in the same displays. Store manager Muffy Collins is a South Side resident, currently living in the Woodlawn neighborhood. Collins mentioned that the store will offer complimentary yoga and Pilates classes for up to 20 people in addition to sponsoring a local running club, scheduled to start in January 2022.

Lululemon will be open for business starting on Friday, November 12, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., with an official ribbon-cutting scheduled for 10 a.m., organized by the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce.
