Flora Plessier

Graduate Student, DRSB

Flora is investigating cell fate specification and determination in the nervous system.  Specifically, she characterizes the transcriptional changes that accompany cell fate transitions during neurogenesis.  Her work utilizes functional genetics, single-cell transcriptomic technologies and in vivo imaging.

Jenks Hehmeyer

Graduate Student, IB

Jenks is interested in the comparison of gene regulatory networks (GRNs) across taxa as a means of understanding evolutionary changes in organismal complexity. He currently works on applying high-throughput sequencing approaches, in situ hybridization, and transgenic assays to infer GRNs,  and to assess their usage within cell types and developing structures. He is interested in how networks are encoded and regulated by the genome, including how 3D genome organization guides gene expression.

Ja‘Marcus Robertson

Graduate Student, DRSB

Ja‘Marcus is studying gene networks in the context of the initiation of regeneration.  Many non-vertebrate lineages display extensive regenerative capacities, often re-growing much of the body plan from small fragments.
