Tanner Martinez
Graduate student
Tanner is an M.D./Ph.D. student in Immnuology in the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program. Tanner attended Rhodes College and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. During undergrad, he worked in the Herz Lab at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital investigating biochemical interactions of the MLL3/4 complex. The goal of Tanner’s project was to investigate the role of CUX1 in hematopoietic stem cell fate. Tanner was supported by MSTP Training Grant NIH/NIGMS T32GM007281 and an NIH F30 (HL163992). He received the ASH Abstract Achievement Award in 2023, was invited to attend the 2024 St. Jude National Graduate Student Symposium, and selected for the AAP/ASCI/APSA Annual Meeting platform presentation. Tanner is currently finishing medical school.
