From Our Students
This feedback was collected from participants in the 2020 bootcamps.
“The energy and knowledge brought by the instructors made the class enjoyable and welcoming. I think it is difficult, especially with computers and programming, to help beginners if you are experienced, but this course did a great job.”
“Good combination of learning the theoretical backdrop and deploying applications (to reinforce the concepts).”
“The check-ins were very helpful for keeping my interest and for getting my hands dirty, which is super important to learn coding.”
“The Google collab notebooks were written very well. The examples were excellent, and they built upon the skills from previous sections within the same notebook. I only wish there had been a few more challenges to apply skills from other day lessons to the current day (i.e. writing more functions in later lessons).”
“Please continue to offer this every year! I was really scared about entering a grad program, and I think a lot of my fears came from a lack of understanding of what exactly life would be like (both day-to-day and long-term). These sessions have given me that understanding and have cleared my doubts.
Thank you so much!!”
“Learning more about xarray, pandas, and numpy was helpful, but learning more “high-level” concepts such as data visualization theory and best practices of working with data were most helpful, as my research mostly uses C++ instead of python.”
“Introduction to new (to me) statistical ideas, especially the ‘industry standard’ ones like time series analysis”
“Honestly just learning how to be comfortable in a programming environment is the most useful, I have always been intimidated but now understand how to approach and address questions better. ”
