Schedule for Spring 2015: Transnational Networks

We are pleased to announce our schedule of speakers and events for Spring 2015.  We will meet on alternating Mondays from noon-1:20pm.  All workshops will be held in Cochrane-Woods Art Center 152, but please note alternate locations for special events.  Graduate student papers will be distributed the week before their scheduled week.

April 6:  Neda Atanasoski (Feminist Studies, UC Santa Cruz) and Kalindi Vora (Ethnic Studies, UC San Diego).  Special location: Rosenwald 405Lunch will be served. Co-sponsored by the Human Rights Workshop.

April 13:  Patrick Kelly (History), “Salvation in Small Steps: Latin America and the Making of Global Human Rights Politics.” Refreshments will be served, but bring your own lunch. 

April 27:  Chandani Patel (Comparative Literature), “Coolies, Convicts, and Other Outcastes: Ship Families and Transcultural Belonging in Amitav Ghosh’s Sea of Poppies.” Refreshments will be served, but bring your own lunch. 

May 6:  Joseph Slaughter (English and Comparative Literature, Columbia), Title TBD. Special day, time, and location: Wednesday, May 6, 4:30pm, Rosenwald 405. Co-sponsored by the Human Rights Workshop.

May 11:  Emily Marker (History), “Student and Youth Exchanges between France, Francophone Africa and Western Europe after World War II, 1946-1958,” & Emily Lord Fransee (History), “Internationalizing French Cameroon: Gender and UN Trusteeship, 1947-1960.” Refreshments will be served, but bring your own lunch. Note: This session will run until 2:00pm.
