The Slavery and Visual Cultures Working Group would like to invite you to a reading group meeting on Wednesday, February 22 from 4:30 to 6 in CSRPC room 103 (1st floor seminar room, 5733 S. University).

We will be reading one chapter from Melissa Fuentes’ Dispossessed Lives: Enslaved Women, Violence, and the Archive (U of Pennsylvania Press, 2016) and the introduction and first chapter in Umi McMillan’s Embodied Avatars: Genealogies of Black Feminist Art and Performance (NYU Press, 2015).
