Xu Peng is a PhD candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations. She has a broad range of interests in late imperial China including classical Chinese drama as literature, singing and performing art, print culture, and women’s poetry. A skilled performer of Beijing opera, Xu Peng also maintains an interest in Chinese opera films and gramophone recordings of Peking opera. Her dissertation is titled, “Music, Literature, and Print Culture: The Literati Singing of Kunqu in Late Ming China
