WiC kicked off our First-Year Mentoring Program with a dinner welcoming the new class of graduate women to the department. Mentors and mentees met for the first time over delicious Italian food and wine at Franco’s Ristorante in Bronzeville. It was great getting to know the new women in our department and hearing about their goals for the upcoming year!
The WiC First-Year Mentoring Program provides support for the first-year graduate women in the UChicago Chemistry Department by pairing them with an older graduate mentor from WiC. Our goal is to help integrate students into the department and university communities, while also alleviating some of the stress of starting graduate school.
Good luck to all our new first-years! We look forward to seeing them at our future WiC events.
