Thank you to everyone who turned out for WiC+’s first Career Talk of the academic year featuring Professor Hannah Lant! Professor Lant shared what motivated her to pursue a teaching career, what she did in graduate school to prepare for her current career path, what students interested in a teaching career should look for in job postings, and how to make a teaching statement stand out.

She also recommended several helpful resources, such as the Chronicle of Higher Education for searching for academic teaching jobs and the Chicago Center for Teaching and Learning for any current graduate students or post docs interested in professional teaching development. She strongly recommended reaching out to the CCTL or any instructional professors in the department for help reviewing a teaching statement!

We are so grateful to Professor Lant for her time and insight, and we are excited for our next Career Talk in January!
