ABOUT AMPLIFY

Who we are

Amplify is a cohort of arts and cultural organizations at the University of Chicago that includes Arts + Public Life, Court Theatre, Logan Center for the Arts, The OI, and the Smart Museum of Art. As a collective, Amplify is unified by its commitment to K–12 arts education, with our members primarily serving students, teachers, and families of the historically divested South Side of Chicago. We offer an array of arts education programs, including field trips, in-school artist residencies, and after-school, summer, and family programs, professional development opportunities, and other resources for educators.

Our vision

We are devoted to a learner-centered approach, embracing a critical lens in liberatory pedagogy and valuing arts education as a paradigm for social-emotional learning and civic engagement. We believe that art is a social good, a shared language, and part of the foundation for a thriving community. Guided by these values, Amplify aims to be a model of collaboration and cultural engagement, building a networked education community to open and expand dialogue between young people, educators, administrators, and local artists.
