Pathway Programs in the Biological Sciences Division

According to the National Science Foundation (NSF), Pathway Programs enhance access to careers in the academic sciences and medicine by broadening student participation in critical research training opportunities. Pathways are specifically charged with addressing the long-standing underrepresentation of demographic groups in STEM such as students from low-income backgrounds, low-resource school districts, and rural areas “but many, if not most programs, increase awareness, access, engagement, and inclusion for all students.” Similar to national standards, pathways within the Biological Sciences Division are designed to serve the needs of unique target groups– these include high school students, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows.
