Faculty in the Biological Sciences Division, Physical Sciences Division, and Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering participated in a 4-part series to learn about U.S. Black history and understand how it intersects with science and medicine today. The series will also covered topics related to implicit bias and privilege.

Led by Jessica Millward, Associate Professor of African American Studies and History at the University of California, Irvine, this initial session will provide an overview of major events in American history that have shaped the reality of Black people in science and medicine in the United States today.

This session engages promising practices from both social science and expert practitioners on strategies to mitigate bias.
Session 4: Examining Privilege

Learn how to reflect on privilege as a way to think more thoughtfully about your roles in social justice.
The above “thinkshops” are designed to stimulate thought and discussion about topics related to diversity and inclusion. Once you register below, you will be sent Zoom links for the sessions.
Drop-in sessions for attendees interested in conversing about the lecture and skill-building sessions will also be offered on a weekly basis.
