Please join us this Thursday at 4:30 in Foster 408 for Cheryl Stephenson’s screening and discussion, “The Puppet and the Individual in Jiří Trnka’s 1952 Staré pověsti české (Old Czech Legends).” There will be no pre-circulated paper for this presentation, but there will be snacks, wine, and hopefully a great discussion about puppet films, the peculiar nature of folk culture adaptation and appropriation in 1950s Central Europe, and the complexities of film adaptations of canonical works of literature.
