Spring 2016 Schedule

We’re delighted to announce our schedule for the 2016 Spring Quarter!

Unless otherwise noted, all meetings take place Thursday at 4:30pm in Foster 305 and are followed by a small reception.

Texts to be read in advance are uploaded to the website one week prior to our meeting. All documents are password-protected. The password is circulated via the listserv.

• Thursday, April 14: Wendy Doniger, Professor of History of Religions in the Divinity School, the Committee on Social Thought, and South Asian Languages & Civilization, and in the College, “The Man Who Wouldn’t Sleep With His Wife Until She Had Borne Him A Son: All’s Well That Ends Well and the Cross-Cultural Tale of the Clever Wife”

• Thursday, May 12:  María del Rosario Acosta Lopez, Associate Professor of Philosophy at DePaul University, “On the Poetic Nature of Philosophical Writing: A Controversy Over Style between Schiller and Fichte”

• Thursday, June 2,: Anastasia Artemyev Berg, PhD Candidate in the Committee on Social Thought, “The Unity of Plato’s Phaedrus as the Unity of a Living Being”
