Trauma-Informed Care Training Initiative

REACT and Healing Hurt People Chicago support the Trauma-Informed Care Training Initiative in trauma and emergency settings at Comer Hospital, Stroger Hospital, and the University of Chicago Medicine.

Developed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of a clinical psychologist, two pediatricians, and a social worker, the Trauma-Informed Care Training Initiative facilitates a workshop for hospital personnel including doctors, nurses, social workers, child life, medical assistants, child life and security. Using the Five Points of Trauma-Informed Care, developed as the cornerstone of the training, the TIC training team educates personnel interacting with trauma patients on the sequelae of trauma that could manifest in patients, and how to care for patients using a trauma lens. As part of the workshop, Healing Hurt People Chicago clients facilitate a discussion with participants regarding their experiences as trauma patients.
