I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir when I say that American religion is hot right now.  Take for example this season’s hit Fox show Sleepy Hollow, which posits that George Washington fought a secret war with the devil.  While the show may not be historically accurate (the second episode revolves around resurrecting the charred remains of an American witch who was burned at the stake), its enthusiasm about the religious elements of America’s past is encouraging.  Maybe?  Sort of?

Perhaps not.  Either way, let’s you and I grin and bear it and keep talking about America’s religious past and present!  The first meeting of the Religions in America Workshop is coming up!
