May 24, 2024, 6:00-7:00PM CST: Lecture by Anna Arabindan-Kesson

Join us Friday, May 24 from 6:00-7:00pm in the Seminary Co-op Bookstore (5751 S Woodlawn Ave) for a conversation with Matthew Francis Rarey (Oberlin College) about his book “Insignificant Things: Amulets and the Art of Survival in the Early Black Atlantic.” Larissa Brewer-García will serve as discussant. This event is hosted in partnership with the Seminary Co-op Bookstore.

Prof. Anna Arabindan-Kesson will give her lecture “How Things Matter: Cotton and the Making of Race in the Atlantic World.” This event will be held at the Social Science Tea Room and will be followed by a reception.

October 20, 2023, 12:00-1:30PM CST: Workshop with Anna Arabindan-Kesson

We will workshop Prof. Anna Arabindan-Kesson’s paper “Mobile Enclosures: Plantations and Colonial Medicine in the British Empire.” This event will be held in Room 152 of the Cochrane-Woods Art Center. Lunch will be provided.
