Chicago-Style Citation Quick Guide
Whether your instructor wants you to use a notes and bibliography system, where each note corresponds to a raised (superscript) number in the text and sources are usually listed in a separate bibliography, or use the author-date system, in which sources are briefly cited in the text, usually in parentheses, by author’s last name and year of publication and each in-text citation matches up with an entry in a reference list where full bibliographic information is provided, the key is to properly cite your sources and use consistent references. Use the Chicago Manual of Style’s citation guide for a quick primer on how to format your references.
