Cover Letters
A cover letter is used to introduce your resume or CV to a prospective employer. Your cover letter is your opportunity to sell your skills and show your interest in the position. It’s a great chance to highlight achievements that would make you an ideal candidate for the job, also known as your value proposition.
Cover letters are customized to each position. It is recommended that you always send a cover letter with your resume unless the job listing specifically says not to do so. Remember, you need to write a targeted letter for each application (letters for similar positions will require less modification however). Below are some examples and tips to get you started.
