BIO:WERIEM is a French and Tunisian artist praised by the press for her « gorgeous and evocative », « spectacular » and « sumptuous array of period-perfect » costumes (New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, respectively). After completing a Ph.D. in science in France, she turned definitely to her great passion for designing costumes and illustrations when she moved to Chicago.

This season, she made her debut with the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. She also brought her costume design skills to the Boston Early Music Festival, Haymarket Opera Company, Newberry Consort, the Beethoven Festival, Wheaton College, Elements Contemporary Ballet, the Joffrey Academy of Dance, Balam Dance Theater, Ensemble Dal Niente, Nordic Baroque Dancers, and Opera Lafayette.
WERIEM’s illustrations have taken the form of projections during concerts, CD covers, and many other shapes (cards, posters, tattoos, logos, etc.) as she never gets bored of drawing her clients’ ideas. She’s currently working on a new collection of drawings. Send her a message if you wish to learn more!
Along with her husband, she’s also the co-founder of Arpeggiato.com, an online music school.

We are committed to making our workshop fully accessible to persons with disabilities. Please direct any questions or concerns to TAPS workshop coordinators, Michael Stablein (mstableinjr@uchicago.edu) and Catrin Dowd (catrindowd@uchicago.edu).
