Grants

AHRQ I-COPE Study R18 Grant (2020-2023)

Even though older adults suffer inordinately from chronic pain, little evidence exists for how to treat their chronic pain effectively. Shared decision making and patient-centered clinical decision support are highly promising strategies to approach clinical care for older adults with chronic pain, opioid use and opioid use disorder. We will determine whether development and implementation of a geriatric-informed patient-centered clinical decision support and shared decision making toolkit, using the training dissemination platform Project ECHO®, improves clinical outcomes for Chicago’s most vulnerable older adults.

CFAR Pilot Grant in Infectious Disease Department (2020)

This study’s goal is to implement a system for in-clinic anxiety screening and management and to design a patient portal strategy for assessing anxiety in people living with HIV receiving care at the University of Chicago HIV Care clinic.

AHRQ PORTAL-Depression U18 Grant (2018-2021)

The PORTAL-Depression grant is aimed at integrating an adaptive test for depression symptoms into the electronic health record for a healthcare system and to evaluate the measurement of depression symptoms via a patient portal vs. usual measurement during primary care clinic visits. Results from this grant will provide essential information on the barriers and solutions to integrating adaptive tests for patient-reported outcomes into electronic health records, as well as evidence for the capability of patient portals for providing proactive population-based patient-reported outcome measurement.
