Congratulations to Dr. Sandra Laveaux on her new position as OB/GYN Departmental Quality Chief for Gynecology, Family Planning, Gynecologic Oncology, MIGS, REI, and Uro-gynecology.
Since joining the faculty in 2017, Dr. Laveaux has shown herself to be a highly accomplished surgeon and talented teacher. As the physician supervising the residency clinic, she has been able to encourage attention to quality and safety goals as well impart technical skills. In the past two years she has also been awarded two research grants, published, as first author, an original research article, and published, with her mentor, Dr. Arnold Advincula, three book chapters, one in a major surgical gynecology textbook, TeLinde’s Operative Gynecology.
As Quality Chief, Dr. Laveaux will focus on non-obstetric services and sections, promoting the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical, operational and educational programs to foster a culture of safety, continuous quality improvement and high-value care in the Department. She will work closely with Section Chiefs, Program Directors, Medical Directors, and Chair, meet regularly with UCM’s Chief Quality Officer, and serve as a member of the UCM Quality Committee. She will also participate in the review of sentinel events, taking over, from Dr. Snow, the role of facilitator and moderator of the GYN portion of the Departmental M&Ms.
