2019 AERA Division D: Outstanding Dissertation Award goes to Xu Qin

Xu Qin (Ph.D., 2018, Department of comparative Human Development University of Chicago) received the 2019 AERA Division D: Outstanding Dissertation Award for her dissertation, “Causal Mediation Analysis in Multisite Trials with an Evaluation of the Job Corps Program.”

To qualify for this competition the dissertation should be focused on Section 1: Educational Measurement, Psychometrics, and Assessment, Section 2: Quantitative Methods and Statistical Theory, Section 3: Quantitative Research methods, and Section 4: Multi-Method and Mixed Methods and must be completed during the 2016-2018 academic years. There is only one recipient of this award each year at the AERA annual meeting. Dr. Qin was previously a Quantitative Methods in Human Development and Education Predoctoral Fellow (2012-2017), a Spencer/NAEd Dissertation Fellow (2017-2018), and a Committee on Education (COE) Fellow. She is currently a tenure-stream Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. 

Her dissertation committee members included Guanglei Hong (Chair), Don Hedeker, Stephen Raudenbush and Margaret Beale Spencer.
