2017 - 2018 Academic Year Fellows

Cintia Hinojosa
COE Fellow
Background
Cintia Hinojosa is graduated with a PhD in Behavioral Science at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and earned her BA in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.
Research
Cintia’s research uses mixed-methods to investigate the psychological and behavioral impact of critical narratives, which are narratives that expose how systems of oppression shape contexts to marginalize social groups through identity-safe messaging. They design and experimentally evaluate psychologically-wise interventions to understand how perceptions of social problems can be reframed to promote positive behavioral trajectories, with a focus on reducing racial inequities in health, education, and violence prevention.
Cintia has accepted a position at the Stanford SPARQ Postdoctoral Fellow in Education, where she will be primarily working with Greg Walton to continue her intervention research on countering gun violence and the school-to-prison pipeline by empowering youth to be agents of change in their community. She is excited about this position because they are supportive of her continuing to work with Chicago communities to develop this research.
