Linxi Lu
Background:
Linxi Lu is a postdoctoral scholar in the Harris School of Public Policy. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree from the Human Development and Psychology program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Linxi is committed to translating research into practice. She has run a summer camp focused on parent-child relationships for 13 years, designed four online psychology courses that have collectively garnered over 1.5 million subscribers, and served as a public speaker for multiple nationwide television programs in China.
Research:
Linxi’s research focuses on understanding the factors contributing to variability in the home learning environment and ways to promote early cognitive development. Linxi has designed and implemented several studies, collaborating with parents and preschool-aged children from diverse sociocultural backgrounds. Additionally, she plays a key role in a large-scale longitudinal study, funded by a $1.4 million grant from the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), aimed at enhancing the use of advanced math strategies among low-income students.
Linxi has been published in top-tier journals such as Developmental Psychology, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Education Sciences, Journal of Intelligence, and Journal of Child and Family Studies. Her expertise and creativity in studying the home math environment have been recognized by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) with the Outstanding Dissertation Award. She was also named a Next Generation of Family Math Researchers Dissertation Fellow by the National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement (NAFSCE) and awarded a competitive Summer Dissertation Fellowship by the Boston College faculty.
