BSD Dean's Council

Events

Current Opportunities:

Currently Dean‘s Council works with the Greater Chicago Food Depository https://www.chicagosfoodbank.org/ to facilitate student volunteering to support communities that are most vulnerable to the health and economic impacts of COVID-19. There is always an urgent need for volunteers to help serve the Chicago community. Volunteers travel to the Greater Chicago Food Depository to participate in repacking the food for dispersal to individuals and families during shifts on Fridays and Saturdays. A volunteer bag (water, snacks, and a mask if needed!) is provided to all volunteers, and transportation via carpooling is arranged. If you are interested in volunteering, keep an eye out for the quarterly sign ups or reach out to me directly! If you are interested in organizing a group volunteer trip through DC, please reach out

General statement:

Starting in Fall 2020 Deans council began organizing planned student community service to facilitate student volunteering for local communities as well as the greater Chicago area! The goal of the DC community service is to give students chances to give back to the Chicago community, get to know fellow BSD graduate students from different programs and different years, and to of course support local community service projects!

Future Opportunities (In development):

We are currently working on working with local community service in Hyde Park! Currently in the works is partnership with Hyde Park Kenwood Hunger programs, a food pantry and soup kitchen, in need of volunteers for food distribution, unpacking, and repacking.
