Dr. Mirmira was recently honored with the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Chicago Medical & Biological Sciences Alumni Association. This prestigious award recognizes UChicago alumni’s contributions to medicine and science.

In 1986, Dr. Mirmira graduated from the University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with honors. He then joined the Medical Scientist Training Program at UChicago, where he earned his PhD ‘91 and MD ‘93. In 2019, Dr. Mirmira returned to UChicago and was appointed Professor of Medicine in the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and Director of the Translational Research Center.
