UChicago Moot Court
Our nationally ranked team engages in a variety of kinds of law ranging from American constitutional law to international sports law to space law. We compete in national and international moot competitions in undergraduate and law school tournaments.
Our Story
Moot Court’s history
We were founded in 2013 by Tyler Ross (’15) and Tessa Weil (’14). Moot Court is a unique style of debate involving simulating appellate arguments and written legal briefs.
Tournaments
We host an annual regional tournament with the American Moot Court Association and a National Association of Moot Court High School tournament that attract schools from around the nation.
Team Ranking
UChicago Moot Court is currently an international tournament winning program with championships on both sides of the Atlantic.
2023-2024 Season
From the Canadian tournaments, we have 2 Canadian Cup Champions and 6 Best Oralist Awards. We have 4 law school National Championships, 7 National Best Oralist Awards, and 3 National Best Brief Awards. From AMCA, so far, we have 1 Super-Regional Champion, 1 Regional Champion, and 10 Best Oralist Awards.

Brief Writing
Monday: 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
