Who We Are

Our members come from all backgrounds of experience and interests. There is no perfect mold for the ideal mooter and our diversity of perspective is what brings us our strength. We have astrophysicists and political scientists and economists and sociologists as our members and they each bring a different point of view to every case. More importantly, however, is that we are lifelong friends. We travel together, we work together, and we share a deep love of the law and what it stands for. It is these similarities that bind us together as a Moot Court family.

What We Believe In

Moot Court believes in giving every member the opportunity to travel expenses paid for their tournament, whether it is their first time competing or their last time as a fourth year. We believe in promoting all members of the Moot Court family and growing together as a team, not just a highlighting few exceptional upperclassmen. In Moot Court, we think it is more important to teach as many people about the law as possible than to restrict our numbers to an exclusive few.

Our Results

In one year, we traveled to 15 different cities across 5 countries and 2 continents and won 8 tournaments. We regularly beat law students from top universities and win international competitions judged by real lawyers and judges. Our success in the courthouse continues after graduation with regular placements into top law schools and employment with federal courts, big law, legal nonprofits, consulting firms, and government sectors.

Where We Go

How to Join

We have two recruiting cycles, one at the beginning of the fall quarter and one at the beginning of the spring quarter. The path to membership is:

1) Complete the interest indicator. This helps us know how many people to expect for the upcoming season.

2) Attend an info session. These will help you learn more about Moot Court and our season. It will also allow you to meet us and ask questions.

3) Sign up for OA tryouts or write your BW brief. These are not intended to make cuts, but rather to gauge your skill level and time commitment.

4) Complete your tryout. The coaches will give you feedback on your performance to help you succeed.

5) Join the team! We’re so excited to meet you!
