Breast Program

The breast programs at the University of Chicago and Northshore Health System are leaders in national clinical trials and provide leadership in national societies. They provide multidisciplinary exposure to breast cancer including: Breast Cancer Surgery, Radioactive seed and wire localization of tumors, Oncoplastic Surgery, and multidisciplinary tumor boards.The routine use of ultrasound allows fellows opportunities to develop competencies in ultrasonographic skills. Advanced reconstructive surgery options due to close collaboration with plastic surgery allow fellows exposure to skin and nipple sparing mastectomies, and lymphedema surgery.In addition, extensive use of neoadjuvant therapy, including endocrine, immunotherapy and systemic therapy provides fellows robust exposure to the multimodality treatment of breast cancer.
