Chemistry graduate student Elizabeth Bain led a Girls4Science event at the University of Chicago for two hundred female students from the south side of Chicago. Under the theme the “Science of Beauty,” Elizabeth and fifteen volunteers from Women in Chemistry and the Society of Women in Physics led students through a day of workshops that included examining hair under microscopes, learning how images form in cameras, and examining the effects of UV rays on skin. Thank you to Elizabeth and the volunteers who made this day such a success! We hope grow this partnership with Girls4Science in the coming years.
