As a director of X-ray Research facilities at the University of Chicago, I am responsible for the management and operation of Single Crystal and Powder X-ray diffraction (SXRD/PXRD), Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) and X-ray spectroscopy – X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and X-ray Fluorescence (XPS, XRF) cores. I am focusing on all stages of structural work from crystal growth and client advising to data collection, solving, refining and publishing. I train and supervise students, postdocs, and other researchers; help in manuscript and manuals preparation. I am available for consultation about any aspects of the crystallographic experiments or other X-ray related analytic techniques.
In addition to in-house available methods, I am also involved in a variety of collaborative projects with national laboratories using less commonly available advanced techniques such as Resonant X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption (EXAFS/XANES) or single crystal or powder diffraction based on neutron scattering. I have co-authored several reviews/book chapter and more than 100 peer-reviewed publications incluidng those in top ranked journals such as SCIENCE, JACS (Spotlights), Angewandte Chemistry (VIP), Nano Letters, Chemical Science and others.

I’m a third-year graduate student in the Anderson lab at UChicago. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the university of California – San Diego (UCSD). I’m assisting the director with single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments in-house and Advance Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory. My research is focused on organometallic catalysis and metal-ligand cooperativity.

I am a third year graduate student in the Talapin Lab at UChicago. My research is focused on interfacing 2D transition metal carbides (MXenes) with liquid metals for improved light metal composites and synthesis of novel Nanoparticles in molten inorganic salts. I am assisting the director with in-house powder X-ray diffraction, Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) and X-ray Fluorescence.
