The Environment, Agriculture and Food (EAF) group and the Program on Global Environment (PGE) at the University of Chicago are proud to announce the Green Restaurant Research Team (GRRT).  The team is a partnership between EAF, PGE and the Green Chicago Restaurant Coalition (GCRC), with support from Green Seal and an expert advisory team from the Chicago food service industry and leaders in sustainability throughout Chicago. In an effort aimed at continuing to improve the environmental sustainability of Chicago area restaurants, the team will develop user-friendly, environmentally sound and cost-effective green certification standards for foodservice outlets.

Students on the GRRT will participate in a two-quarter practicum sequence in economics, environmental studies and public policy to conduct the necessary research towards recommendation of a set of standards for various levels of green certification of Chicago restaurants, based on environmental impact, economic efficiency and ease of adoption.
