approaches to Shiʿism in Iran in the Middle Period

ABSTRACT

The Nizari Ismaili polity in Iran (1090-1258) challenged the Saljuq control of the region until its decapitation by the Mongols. This workshop will explore approaches to understanding the developments of Shiʿism in Iran and the socio-political and religious contexts by asking new questions from the sources used by Ivanow, Hodgson, Daftary and others. Some interesting unpublished papers from Marshall Hodgson will also be discussed.

Light refreshments will be served. Persons with a disability who believe they need assistance can contact us at mehat2011@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you there!
