The Silent Imam: Religious Archetype and Historical Memory in the Sectarian Milieu
Time: Tuesday, April 12, 12:00–1:30pm
Location: Pick 218, 5828 S University Ave
How did early Imami Shi’ites maintain the belief in ‘Ali’s imamate in the light of his apparent acquiescence to the caliphs which preceded him? What consequences did this have for the Imamite worldview in contention with its opponents in the sectarian context? How did this shape the respective Imamite sub-sects 12ers, Isma’ilis, and Nusayris? These and other important questions will be addressed.
Refreshments will be served, but feel free to bring lunch.
We hope to see you there!
