Welcome to SOAR!

In the United States, nearly half of men and just over a third of women can expect to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes. Optimal patient-centered oncologic care and research requires complex coordination and understanding of an interdisciplinary and interprofessional team across the cancer care continuum. While education pertaining to individual oncologic specialties continues to improve, there exists a gap in interdisciplinary and interprofessional training at the undergraduate and graduate medical education levels.

The goal of the Scholars in Oncology-Associated Research (SOAR) program is to fill this gap by providing medical students with exposure to high-quality mentored research career opportunities coupled with a better understanding of the complete spectrum of interdisciplinary and interprofessional oncologic care.
